They fear, that they will loose their pole position, when the world grows together. This is one reason, why America fears the United Nations of Europe. If Europe becomes one day only one big state, what do you think will be in better position? Europe of course, the economy and their relation ships to all countries in the world will stronger them up.

Bush avoids contact to Russia and China, the majority of Europe is very interested in alliance with Russia and China, because the politicians here know, that there isn´t a future without this two big countries.
The European society is at the point, where they understand that economy will only work, if Western and eastern society cooperates.

The western society is at the beginning of a big depression. There are no jobs in our countries, the inflation rises and many of our social security systems stop to work (like the pension plan). Especially in Germany, France, USA the circumstances aren´t really nice. Right.... nobody dies here by hunger but there are a lot of poor families without job/money and future perspectives.

The golden economical years are over and are starting at the moment at the eastern society. Most of Europes famous economists give the prognose that "the American Dream" maybe change to "the russian dream" in the next 10 years. After standing up from communism, you have open doors to everything in your country. New enterprises are building up fast and new technologies are making progress.

My friend from Belarus told me that there is no place in the world, where you can find more Mercedes Benz than in Moscow. A lot of people who I know, plan to emigrate to Russia. Especially the academic/gratuade future lies in the new areas of russian economy.
So you see, here in Europe nobody really likes Bush except of Tony Blair maybe.
We will see, how thing will change.

I agree with a lot of points, and in many points your basic idea is right. But I also think that you negativate things too much. Our future is not only negative. I know that in future there will be wars for ressources and not for the ressource Oil, just what you sayd but for the ressource Water. Water is one of our ressources which we in the north have enough, but what about the south? What about all countries below the aequator? Whole continents will have war for water because the natural ressources are shrinking, caused by pollution and exxageration of cultivating crops.
But let this aside,
the important think is that the live standart is upgrading in more and more countries. Compare your live standart with that of your parents when they were in your age. And this is a positive sign. While we´re sitting infront of our computers, and discussing political issues, our parents worked hard on Tabac crops or chemical fabrics, it was all kolchos, or sowchos however, this is a sign for growing live standard and this is definetly positive. In future more and more countries will rise their standards.

as you already know I study biologie/genetics and as a student of this science I believe that there is a big potential in genetics.

But there are two ways to use it. You can use it and help people, to heal deseases like alzheimer or parkinson, cloning for example opens the possibility to build artificial organs, so that after accidents people don´t have to wait weeks and months for new organs.

But you can also abuse it, this big potential is able to heal and to destroy our world. Believe it or not, time will schow.

But fact is, that it depends on human wether this science will be used or abused, and human have a strange nature to destroy themselves.

Another fact is that genetic scientists play God, the create something, and let something die.

So your question will surely be: Why do I study Genetic?
I study it because for me its very very interesting, and maybe I will not work in labors, maybe I stay at university and teach it to the next generations.

My position conform with you in many points. Greate new forms of plants, help to peoples, heal many diseases, it is direct application of genetic engeneering. It is real interesting and usefull. But I think that peoples should know definite border of their investigation. They can create new forms of life in near future. It is no good.

Another, people usually use many powerfull invention in bad ways. Remember nuclear physics. What about peasfull atom? But where it is? What about Hirosima and Nagasaka, Cold war, Caribean crisis, Chernoble and another unknown problems in many atom stations in whole world, ouy planet stuck in radiation dust. Is this justification for some attainment in energetic? Noone can answer. This point can repetition with genetic. It like play with fire. It can warn you, or kill.

I didn´t think about comparing Atom Weapon with genetics but it´s a good comparison from you. There are also possibilities to invent bioogical weapons (f.e. viruses in bombs) (If my knowledge is up to date, they already exist).

But look at humans history, every new invention brought positive and negative things. The automobile for example, it made people mobile, helped societies to grow and so on, but at the same time it brought big pollution and other environmental problems.

So, let me to connect... I'm from Russia too, my real name is Ugin(or Evgeny) and i live in Nizhniy Novgorod, it's on small distance from Moscow ~ 1000km(but it diffrent). As for me, i'm very interested in this topic, Victim was not right.
Some words about me... I left school, but still did't entered to any University, now i'm working and going to courses(with special preparing, because i want to enter to good University). I'm trying to enter before, but was very sad when i get bad news(not difficult to understand that it was "no"). My marks was not perfectly, but good(4/5 in all subjects), and i'm wrote 3 exams: russian, maths and physics. Anywhere needs money, but where i can find them...
My interests lie in web-design, 3D-modeling and also i have good voice, so i like to sing too(and want to make few records(home records), but hav't many free time to do this). There is one important moment, for me, i can't play with my own maps with real pleasure(it was not interesting, when you know everything). And best way for me was to play in campaings and standart maps, because map generator was very stupid, sometimes, in new map player can't go away from his own castle, because around him was hole ring of monsters(or one who defend some artefact), it was impossible. And from those moment i don't like map generator in HoMM2, and i think that in HoMM1 maps generater is more stupid, and maps not interesting to play... I think best maps and campaigns was created by 3DO group. And now i also playing with HoMM2, with standart maps and campaigns, but i like it, and like to remember how it was few years ago(5)...
So, as for me, HoMM2 nostalgy , it was my first computer game, and the game where i lived ~1(or 2) year of my real life, and it was very cool(it was my childhood, with HoMM2).
And how do you think, HoMM2 better HoMM1 or not? And graphics there is not important, only gameplay...

When I play Warcraft1, I remember when I was young (now I am not old ) and watch on this game, when play brother, in that time I am not understand so difficult game. Yes I understand what you mean, I do not know if you read it, but I am too from the old CCCP I grew up in Kazakhstan, till I became 7 years old (okay, I was young when we moved to Europe, but the first years are forming a personality) So when we came to Europe (exactly Greece) we were like Human from the moon, while here everybody worked with computers and technologies, we were happy to have permanent energy and warm water. But an unhyappy circumstance brought a computer to our family (It was a gift from a child-hospital, when my brother suffered on cancer). Still that time I was hooked up on the computer world. Believe it or not my first computer game on a PC was HoMM 1. It was my first game I have played with a mouse. It was anywhere 1996, and I was 13 years old.
I remember when we were in Kazakhstan, we have heard a "Rumor" about Video Games, but we did not believe that any thing like this exists.

So the difference between east and west was really huge, and is still big. but I think that this will change fast.

Zirus, we can talk about TV, but I am sure that your TV program is differet from mine. Today here, you cannot turn on the TV and look anything normal. They are sending only trash and absolute nonsense. For example now at the time we have a big boom of reality shows, it means judicial, educative and psychological shows based on "real" stories. I do not beliefe any story because it is always very exaggerated. And it is fact that you cannot make high quotes if you show the reality (The most people turn on the TV to escape from reality, they do not want to see how life really is on TV). So the consequence is that producer of TV shows modificate these damn shows and present them as reality. This is one reason why I cannot watch TV, i feel ashamed when I see those people on the TV.

We have some scientistic TV programs and of course news. That's all I can watch.
When I like to watch movies I'm looking on DVD or in the cinema, because in Germany there is every 20 minutes an 7 minutes long reklam, so you watch more spots than movies.

What about you? Do you have favorite movies? What genre do you prefer? My favorites are for example Matrix 1-3, Blade 1-3, Serenity, and other fantasy/action.

And I adore historical movies like Gladiator, Troy, Braveheart, last of mohicans and so on.

Yes, certainly, everyone has favorites. At me for example the same "Matrix" 1-3, also: " Lord of the rings " 1-3, "Terminator" 1-3, " the Chain dog ", "Beethoven" 1-2 (old, kind film), " Severe games ", " The Crow ", "Brother" 1-2 (Russian films), "Spawn" and many other things...
And what about music? I read, that you did not hear anything interesting of present Russian music? Well, I can advise pair songs, on an estimation...

Abou TV I saw same posotions. Many reklam, too small time to film, silly programs. About reality shows. I hate it!!! I did not belive any word in this programms. This programm use idle curiosity of peoples. I like watch BBC and Discovery films and some news.

My favorites films are LOTR, Sleppy Hollow, "12 chairs", Sherlok Holms russian edition, another fantasy/mystic/historical films.

wow youre very buisy, but it seems to me, that this are interesting jobs? I´t is not like beeing waitress in a restaurant (as I am/was) or making houses clean of rich people (as I was).

So recent russian music is a unknown area for me. What comes here to Germany is Tatto, ruki WWerx, Virus, Faktor 2 and so on. And I really really do not like this music. It all the same for me, same bass, same melody and especially same silly lyrics. (Ruki WWerx is allways singing about girls "dew4onki")

I do not like mainstream music in General, I like RnB, and Rock music. But also groups like Sektor Gasa. A lot of oldies (international) and so on and so on.....

But you can kill me with Pop music.... uuuuarrrgh....

I have had the soundtrack of Brat2 on MC, and it sounded like a good movie, but here it is dufficult to get one. The most are cheap copies, and often doesn´t work (are scrached and you cannot play them on your DVD machine)

I remember the 12 Stuliev, it was the last movie I have seen in the CCCP, before we went away. This was a nice movie, I downloaded it here, but the quality is so bad, so you can only guess what happens. I liked also the "diamond hand" and some indian movies like sita&gita.....

But my absolute favorite russian are "lubov i golubi" and "Kupi, prodai" ...... aaaaah that were movies for the heart.

Yes, very much. But it is necessary to admit, that not always was so. Generally I work already with 14 and when to me there was only 14 I worked as the cleaner in park. When i was 15-17 sometimes i replaced the brother, the seller of computer disks, by the way too was arranged " on acquaintance ", through the friend. And as to last places of work here it is necessary to recognize the following: if not presence of a plenty of "free time" I would not manage to be arranged there therefore as for last years in schools I "have got the hand" in various graphic programs, on video-tape editing and 3D to modelling...
About Sector Gasa already read earlier on pages of a forum. I'm to listening it sometimes. Did you hear Aria or Kipelov group?.. Russian rock music, also i can advise to hear Catharsis, Mavrik, Epidemia... Can give links to download files with good quality and small size, i wanted to upload it to my home site.
